Fahari Bazaar is a one-stop marketplace showcasing beautiful handmade products made by highly-skilled artisans from Tanzania.
Started in 2015 by Fahari Wambura with the goal of creating opportunities for women back in her home country Tanzania.
Fahari Bazaar clothing styles are inspired by Fahari’s childhood memories of clothing her mother, aunts, sisters and grandmother wore.
The fabrics we use are 100% cotton Kitenge, Kanga or Batiki fabrics sourced from women vendors at the Kitumbini fabric market in Dar es Salaam. The Batiki fabrics are sourced directly from the women who handprint and hand dye them in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Having our clothes made in Tanzania creates high paying jobs for skilled tailors in a country where this occupation is often undervalued.
Product development and special orders are done by Fahari at the Fahari Bazaar shop in Chatham, New York.
