Root is the visionary for Black Roots. It’s the love for her Eritrean roots and her husband's Ghanaian roots which fuel the cohesive effort that is Black Roots. Mesmerized by the colors and patterns utilized by artisans in Africa, she noticed the joy she would feel amongst a fabric she particularly favored in the marketplaces of Ghana. This joy inspired her to work with these beautiful people and to spread the joy at home.

Our mission is to celebrate the African culture and aim to bridge the African continent with the Americas for everyone to enjoy our signature collection. Each handcrafted piece of art is unique and lovingly designed from vibrant print fabric. We are proud to be black owned, woman owned, and to support employment and artistry in African countries.
